The iLimb

A new prosthetic arm has recently become commercially available from Touch Bionics. Using two myoelectric signals the hand can be easily manipulated to complete a number of tasks. This is a big step forward in the field of prosthetics as it is one of the most intuitive ever made. Its ability to resemble the look and function of a real human hand is another of its strong points. While fine motor skills are still out of the reach of this device, as it is essentially controlled by only two muscles, it reveals to us the possibilities in prosthetic development.
